The Fedora Project proudly announced a few minutes ago, February 28th, the immediate availability for download and testing of the Alpha version of the upcoming Fedora 17 operating system, due for release in May 2012.

Codenamed Apollo, Windows Phone 8 is expected to become available before the end of this year, and two leading handset vendors already confirmed plans to bring to the market devices powered by it.

The next major Android release might become available in late 2012, Mountain View-based Internet giant Google confirmed at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona.
